A middle school boy has been arrested in connection with a child pornography investigation after allegedly sending naked pictures of his ex-girlfriend to other students, Seattle TV station KIRO reported.

The 14-year-old received a cell phone picture from his 14-year-old girlfriend showing her naked, police said. When the two broke up, the boy allegedly began forwarding the image to other students Monday night.

Toni, the victim’s mother, said her daughter is devastated and regrets sending the photo.

“She did something out of trust. I suppose wanting to be accepted, loved. It was a mistake,” Toni said.

Lacey police said the naked image of the girl has been sent to dozens of students in at least three different schools.

‘They did this with intention to harm her, the people who spread this picture,” Toni said.

Two teenage girls could also face child pornography charges for allegedly playing a role in spreading the naked photo to other students.

Prosecutors said the teens could all face charges of dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

No decision on charges has yet been reached, but a judge on Wednesday found probable cause to move forward with the case against the 14-year-old boy and one of the girls. The children have been released to their parents pending a final decision on criminal charges.

The victim’s mother said she hopes the incident is a lesson for all teenagers and their parents.

“I think they need to realize a lot of what they are doing … can do permanent damage to somebody,” she said.
